Major General Crishantha Gnanaratne Relinquishes Office at 1 Corps HQ

Major General Crishantha Gnanaratne, the 2nd Commander of 1 Corps HQ on the eve of his retirement relinquished his duties during a formal military ceremony, held at the Headquarters 1 Corps, Kilinochchi on 15 December 2022.

At the beginning of the ceremony, the outgoing Commander was greeted with a Guard Turnout at the entrance of the Headquarters 1 Corps before he was saluted by a Guard of Honour, presented by 2 Commando Regiment troops.

Thereafter, the outgoing Commander posed for a group photograph with all General Officers Commanding, Brigade Commanders, Commanding Officers and staff officers serving the 1 Corps HQ.

Subsequently, he addressed 1 Corps troops at "Nelumpiyasa" Convention Hall and shared important experiences of his 34 years long illustrated career and thanked all for the support they extended to him during his tenure and urged them to continue their commitment in the same spirit for the benefit and the reputation of the organization. At the end of the troop address, Brigadier General Staff and Brigadier Admin & Quartering of 1 Corps HQ jointly presented a memento to the outgoing Commander 1 Corps.

Towards the end of the day’s event, Major General Crishantha Gnanaratne shared refeshments and interacted with the troops present there. General Officers Commanding, Brigade Commanders, Commanding Officers and other ranks were present during the sequence of events.
