Mahawa Hospital Wards Converted to Treat COVID-19 Patients

Troops of the 1 Sri Lanka National Guard serving the 14 Division and 141 Brigade of the Security Force Headquarters - West converted two wards for treatment of COVID-19 patients at Mahawa regional Hospital in Kurunegala district and handed it over to the hospital authorities on 5 October 2021.

The process of the conversion started on 5 September 2021 after the epidemic gripped the area.

The estimated total cost for the project was Rs 3.5 mn but the troops managed to complete it with Rs 2 m saving Rs 1.5 m to the country.

Colonel T.N.F Kichilan, 143 Brigade Commander graced the official event as the Chief Guest in the opening ceremony of the newly constructed wards, together with Dr Pramitha Shanthilatha, Director Kurunegala District Hospital and the Commanding Officer 1 SLNG Major K.A.D.A.P.V Kumarasingha.
