The Army Training School (ATS) at Maduru Oya on Saturday (17) had its first harvesting ceremony with the participation of the ATS Commandant, Brigadier Senaka Kasthurimudali and ATS troops.
The ATS several months ago to be in line with the ‘Thuru Mithuru - Nawa Ratak’ ploughed a marshy land patch of about 2 acres inside the ATS compound and sowed paddy in an attempt to promote the organic cultivation project of the Army.
At 9.34 a.m. on Saturday (17), the auspicious reaping ceremony got to a start after observance of ancient rites and rituals. The ATS Commandant also joined the troops.
