542 Infantry Brigade of 54 Infantry Division under the Security Force HQ - Wanni, together with the members of ‘Willing Hearts’ Foundation in Singapore and ‘Maha Karuna’ Society in Vavuniya distributed a large stock of dry ration packs and school accessories among 150 deserving students in Madu Divisional Secretary area in Mannar District on Tuesday (22 Aug) at Madu Church.
This was made possible through the sponsorship provided by ‘Willing Hearts’ Foundation in Singapore with the coordination of ‘Maha Karuna’ Society in Vavuniya and the 542 Infantry Brigade HQ.
During the event, 200 families received dry ration packs, each worth more than Rs. 3000/= and 150 students were awarded each a pack of school accessories to the value of Rs 5000/= on the same occasion. Similarly, each student was gifted a sum of Rs 2000/= in cash.
Colonel T.L.M Chandrasekara RWP psc, Commander, 542 Infantry Brigade graced the occasion together with the members of Willing Hearts Foundation and Maha Karuna Society and joined the simple ceremony.
This project was conducted on the instructions of Major General W.P.A.D.W Nanayakkara RSP VSV USP ndu, Commander of SF-W and Major General G.W.A Seneviratne USP psc, General Officer Commanding of 54 Infantry Division.
Troops of 4 Gajaba Regiment (4 GR) made all the necessary arrangements through the coordination of Major M.V Fernando, Civil Affairs Officer of 542 Infantry Brigade and under the guidance of the Commanding Officer of 4 GR.
