Troops of the 571 Brigade under the 57 Division of the Security Force Headquarters - Mullaittivu with sponsorship received from Commercial Bank took an initiative to examine vision impairments of school children, adults and underprivileged elderly people in Kilinochchi area during a project at Kilinochchi Facility Centre on Saturday (12) where 150 reading glasses were given away free of charge to beneficiaries.
At the request of the 571 Brigade HQ, the Commercial Bank’s B.D Sebastian Education and Research Center provided the sponsorship for the project.
The project launched under two phases after eye sights were examined in January this year before those eye glasses were distributed in the presence of doctors, Major General Priyantha Jayawardena, General Officer Commanding, 57 Division, Brigadier Chaminda Gamlath, Brigade Commander, 571 Brigade, Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks of the 57 Division and 571 Brigade.
