Lance Corporal H.A.F Prabath Honoured for Heroic Act of Bravery by the Army Chief

Lance Corporal H.A.F Prabath of the 4 Special Forces Regiment was awarded the 'Commander’s Commendation Badge' by Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage RWP RSP ndu, the Commander of the Army, on 6 March 2024, at the Commander’s office, in recognition of his outstanding act of bravery.

Lance Corporal H.A.F Prabath, while on leave on 15 February 2024, intervened when a woman attempted to commit suicide by jumping into the Ihala Kotmale Water Reservoir near Thalawakale Sumana Vidyalaya. Upon noticing the incident, he courageously plunged into the reservoir, which is approximately 60 feet deep, and rescued the woman, disregarding his own safety. His timely and selfless action prevented the loss of a young life.

The Commander of the Army inquired about the incident and engaged in a cordial interaction with the brave soldier. At the conclusion of the interaction, the Commander of the Army highly commended Lance Corporal H.A.F Prabath's brave act, extending best wishes for his future endeavours.

Vidyananda RWP RSP USP, Director Personnel Administration and Lieutenant Colonel W.R.A.S.M. Ranasinghe WWV RWP RSP USP, the Commanding Officer of 4 Special Forces, also joined the occasion.
