Kokilai Civilians Educated on Increasing NCDs

As the threat of non-communicable diseases (NCDs) is fast rising in different parts of the country, troops of the 5 (Volunteer) Battalion Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment of the 593 Brigade and 59 Division under the Security Force Headquarters Mullaittivu conducted a special non-communicable diseases awareness programme for villagers in Kokilai at St Sebastian Church premises on Sunday (27).

The awareness programme was organized by 5 (V) SLSR on the instructions of the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 59 Division under the close supervision of the Commander 593 Brigade, Brigadier Wasantha Palamakumbura in liaison with the Medical Officer of Health (MOH) at Welioya.

Dr Nilaga Alwis, Medical Officer of Health (MOH) at Welioya area delivered an important lecture on the looming threat and precautionary actions, needed to be taken to arrest the spread of Non-communicable Diseases. Around 90 civilians participated in this awareness programme.
