Kilinochchi Troops Exhibit Buddhist Virtue of Generosity


66 Division and 573 Brigade conducted commemorative activities on account of Poson on Tuesday (2) in their respective areas with the cooperation of civilians in the area.

Troops of the 66 Division organized a Bodhi Pooja to mark Poson Poya and a Dansela in Poonaryn area. Hundreds of sight-seers and devotees of the area witnessed the colourful and glamorous lanterns and enjoyed the free meals offered by troops.

Moreover, ‘Mahindagamanaya’ film was screened with Tamil subtitles to the civil community at Poonaryn area to make Tamil civilians be aware of the significance of the Poson Poya day.

General Officer Commanding, 66 Division graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. A large gathering, including Additional Divisional Secretary, Poonaryn, Brigade Commanders, senior officials, civil state officers, Police officers and civilians attended the event.

In the meantime, troops of the 573 Brigade organized a ‘Bodhi Pooja’ to invoke merits and blessings on fallen War Heroes and serving Army personnel on account of Poson commemoration. Besides, an Osu Pan Dansela was organized by them on the same day to exhibit Buddhist generosity and sharing.
