Kilinochchi Commander Visits His Formations

Major General Amal Karunasekara after assuming duties as the Commander, Security Force Headquarters - Kilinochchi (SFHQ-KLN) in the past few days visited several formations including Divisions and Brigades under the SFHQ-KLN.

General Officer Commanding (GOC), 66 Division welcomed Major General Karunasekara on arrival and a Guard Turnout, presented by 66 Division troops, saluted the new Kilinochchi Commander in keeping with military traditions on Thursday (26). 

Afterwards, a customary troops address, briefing of the GOC, 66 Division and a tree planting event took place to coincide with the Commander’s visit. Signing the visitors’ book at the 66 Division culminated the day’s arrangements. 

On the same day, SF Commander visited the 661, 662 and 663 Brigades as a part of his field visits. Commanders in respective Brigades welcomed the visiting Commander, SFHQ-KLN on arrival and explained their roles and tasks separately in respective locations. 

During the visits, the visiting Kilinochchi Commander also received a briefing on the Civil-Military Coordination activities and other projects that have been undertaken by respective Brigades. 

Meanwhile, the Kilinochchi Commander called at the Forward Maintenance Area - Kilinochchi (FMA-KLN) Headquarters on Friday (27) where he was warmly welcomed by the Commander, FMA-KLN and other officers. 

Major General Amal Karunasekara declared opened the newly-built Officers’ Mess at the FMA-KLN during the visit.

Afterwards, the Commander, SFHQ-KLN visited the 57 Division on Monday (30). The visiting SF Commander was warmly welcomed by the acting GOC to suit military traditions. The day’s arrangements culminated after planting a tree sapling and signing the visitors’ book at the 57 Division Headquarters.

On Tuesday (1) the Commander SFHQ-KLN visited the 574 Brigade and the Battalion Training School, Ampakamam. He was warmly welcomed by the Commandant at the training school. During the visit, Area Commanders, Brigade Commanders and Commanding Officers briefed their deployment and also explained him Civil Military Coordination Activities (CIMIC) to the Commander, SFHQ-KLN.
