Responding swiftly to a request of the Kilinochchi Blood Bank over the need for replenishment, Kilinochchi troops at the SFHQ-KLN on the directions of Major General Harendra Ranasinghe, Commander Security Forces Kilinochchi promptly volunteered to donate blood for the benefit of patients in hospitals in the Kilinochchi region on Thursday (18).
It was organized at the Army Base Hospital in Kilinochchi on the guidelines given by the medical staff at Kilinochchi District Hospital.
Medical Officers Yashobha Thilakarathe, Consultant Transfusion Physician, B. I Kumanayake, N. Wijayathilake and his medical team at the District Hospital Kilinochchi, actively assisted to conduct the project.
More than one hundred Army troops, including the Commander, Security Forces-Kilinochchi, Brigadier Admin and Quartering and a number of senior Officers of Security Force HQ Kilinochchi as well as a group of Tamil civilians in Kilinochchi area gave away their blood.
Brigadier Admin and Quartering Brigadier Deepal Hathurusinghe and the Chief Coordinator for Civil Affairs, Lieutenant Colonel Lal Kithsiri provided the fullest support to coordinate and make the event a success.
