KDU Produces 1063 More Graduates in Defence Studies & Other Spheres

The 27th General Convocation of the General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University (KDU) which produced a record number of 1063 graduates including some from the civil sector, got underway at the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall (BMICH) during 11-12 December.

HE the President Maithripala Sirisena attended the event as the Chief Guest in the final segment of the convocation ceremony on Tuesday (12).

Secretary to the Ministry of Defence Mr Kapila Waidyarathne PC, Chief of Defence Staff, Tri-service Commanders, past Commanders, Senior Officers and a distinguished gathering were present during the second segment of the Convocation.

During the convocation, 1063 graduates from nine different faculties received their Doctoral, Master’s and Bachelor’s degrees in Defence Studies, Management, Business Management, Law, Medicine, Engineering, Logistic Management and Technical Sciences, Social Sciences, Military Studies and Aviation Studies.

As in the customary during the event, a memento was presented to the Chief Guest HE the President by KDU Vice Chancellor, Rear Admiral Jagath Ranasinghe to mark the occasion.

KDU Chancellor, Admiral Daya Sandagiri (Rtd), Ambassadors, University Chancellors, Chief of Defence Staff, Army, Navy and Air Force commanders, academic and non-academic staff, Ministry of Defence officials, senior military Officers, distinguished invitees, Vice Chancellors of other universities, Vice Chancellor of KDU, DVC (Defence & Admin), DVC (Academic), Rector (Southern Campus KDU) All Deans, Academic & Non Academic Staff, Military and civil graduates, parents and relatives of the graduates were also present at the occasion.
