Karuwalagaswewa Pregnant Women Receive Essential Items from West Troops

Through the proper coordination of the 143 Infantry Brigade and 16 Battalion Gajaba Regiment (GR) troops of the Security Force HQ - West (SFHQ-West), one more community project was launched on Saturday (22) in Karuwalagaswewa Tabbowa Purana Rajamaha Viharaya by inviting 50 needy pregnant women and needy children.

Following sponsorship, provided by Mrs Udyani Munasinghe and her supporters in coordination with Major General T.D Weerakoon (Retd) RWP RSP VSV USP, troops distributed relief packs of nutrients, clothes and necessary baby items to 50 pregnant women in the area and a stock of school accessories to students of low-income families.

The total cost of this project was around Rs. 500,000/= and the troops in consultation with the monks at Tabbowa Purana Rajamaha Viharaya, Karuwalagaswewa organized the distribution programme as per directions given by Major General D.M.K.D.B Pussella RWP RSP, Commander, SF-West, and Major General J.M.R.N.K Jayamanna RWP, General Officer Commanding of 14 Infantry Division, under the guidance of Brigadier T.M.F Kitchilan RWP RSP, Commander, 143 Infantry Brigade.

Towards the end of the day’s event, troops arranged a delicious lunch for the participants at the same venue. Senior Officers, Officers, sponsors, and Other Ranks together with the beneficiaries took part in the event.
