Kandakadu Villager to Get New House, Built by Army Troops

In order to elevate living standards of the poor in the East, the Security Force HQ-East on Tuesday (11) laid the foundation-stone for construction of one more new house for a needy family, resident in Kandakadu, Welikanda area with sponsorship, provided by the Australia-based expatriate, Mr Nihal Udugama Suriyage.

The house is to be constructed with technical expertise and manpower support of 9 Field Regiment of Sri Lanka Artillery troops of the SFHQ-East under the directions of the General Officer Commanding - 23 Division, Major General Nalin Koswatta and the Commander, 233 Brigade Colonel Wasantha Hewage.

Major General Lal Chandrasiri Commander, Security Forces - East proposed its construction with the financial support, given by the expatriate.

Chief Coordinator Civil Affairs Officer, SFHQ (E) Colonel Ushan Gunawardhana, Commanding Officer of 9 SLA, Lieutenant Colonel Dinesh Wanigasekara, Officers and Other Ranks and family members of the beneficiary were present during the inauguration ceremony, adhering to COVID-19 health guidelines.
