JOLC Student Officers Learn About Petroleum Products

Student Officers following the Junior Officers Logistics Course (JOLC) - No 17 at Army School of Logistics (ASL) proceeded with their pre-arranged visit to the Lanka IOC Headquarters on 15 February as part of their course syllabus.

The Assistant Manager Operations, IOC Mr. A Sudarshana delivered a lecture on “Supply Chain Management” covering procurement procedures, storage, oil refining and distribution system, etc. Further, the IOC products, inclusive of Automotive Fuel, Lubricants, Bitumen, Petrochemicals and Bunkering were also introduced to the participants during the lecture.

Next, the Student Officers continued with the pre-arranged field visit under the guidance of the Assistant Manager Operations and the Executive Safety and Security Manager Mr. Agilan of Lanka IOC.

During the visit, the procedure of transport of oil by ships to the land and a demonstration of fire-fighting were conducted. Further, the Student Officers were given the opportunity to practise fire-fighting drills before they were invited to lunch.

Finally, a memento was presented as a token of appreciation by the Student Officers of JOLC No 17 to the Senior Vice President, Lanka IOC, Mr. Binoj Paul.
