24 school-going children in the Dutugemunu primary school in Ampara on Tuesday (23) received a pack of essential school accessories, inclusive of school bags, pairs of shoes, stationery items and also a Bank account for each student which deposited Rs 750/= which will, in turn, assist them to continue their studies. Major Kusumsiri Liyanage (Retired) of the Soul Foundation and the People’s Bank of Ampara sponsored the project at Army’s request.
4 Sri Lanka Light Infantry troops under the guidance and directions of Colonel Sumal Wickramasekera, Commander, 532 Brigade organized the distribution project at the school premises.
The Commanding Officer of the 4 Battalion of Sri Lanka Light Infantry, made the project a success.
The 532 Brigade Commander, Commanding Officer of 4 Battalion of Sri Lanka Light Infantry, Lieutenant Colonel Dhanuka Weerapura and the 2nd In Command of the 4th Battalion of Sri Lanka Light Infantry Major H.M.H.A Kapilarathne took part in the distribution arrangement with the donors.
