Initiating one more reconciliatory project in the Jaffna peninsula, troops under the Security Force HQ-Jaffna extended their support to build a new house for another needy family in Uduvil area with sponsorship, provided by the well-known philanthropist, Mr. Kumara Weerasooriya and his colleagues.
On finding that Mrs Desi Indra Rathish in Uduvil with her children and the family was leading a hand to mouth life, amid dire financial constraints, Major General Senarath Bandara, Commander Security Forces-Jaffna (SFHQ-J) instructed 9 Sri Lanka Light Infantry troops of the 511 Brigade HQ under the 51 Division HQ of the SFHQ-J to carry out this humanitarian project after the respective Grama Niladhari (state official) confirmed their bona fides.
To coincide with the 'Thaipongal' day on Thursday (14), the new house was warmed and vested in the family during a simple ceremony, rich with Hindu rites and rituals. Major General Senarath Bandara as the Chief Guest attended the warming ceremony and gifted the family with a set of home appliances and other essentials.
