Jaffna Troops Erect One More New Home to Deserving Family

Troops of the 551 Infantry Brigade of the 55 Infantry Division under command to the Security Force Headquarters - Jaffna, with sponsorship provided by a donor using their technical expertise and manpower built one more new house to a deserving family living in the general area of Thumpalai (E), in Point Pedro.

In the presence of Major General Swarna Bothota, Commander Security Forces-Jaffna on 01 March, the keys of the new house of the family of Mrs Antony Deenas Tharshani were handed over to the beneficiary during a simple ceremony.

Major General Ravi Rathnasingham (retd) in coordination with the Lions Club of Modera/Mattakkuliya raised funds for its construction considering the unfortunate living condition of the family, which was brought to the notice by the 55 Division and the SFHQ-Jaffna.

Brigadier Jude Kariyakarawana, Brigade Commander 551 Infantry Brigade under the leadership and conceptual guidance of Major General Prasanna Gunaratne, General Officer Commanding, 55 Infantry Division coordinated the construction.

As the day's events came to a close, the Chief Guest, Major General Swarna Bothota, in addition gifted the family with dry ration packs, kitchen appliances, and other household essentials after keys were delivered by him.

Mr Alvaipillai Siri, Divisional Secretary Point Pedro, Government Officials, Mr Shanthakumar, Mr N Jeganathan, a representative of the ‘Wanni Aid’, Brigade Commanders of 551 and 552 Infantry Brigades, Senior Officers, other invited guests, and neighbours also attended the ceremony.
