The house construction project of the Security Force HQ - Jaffna (SFHQ-J) for deserving civilians in the peninsula, now in full swing erected one more new house in Chankani, Jaffna and vested it in the beneficiary on Monday (3) during a simple warming ceremony.
513 Brigade troops of the 51 Division contributed to the construction of the new house with funds made available by Canada-resident Mr. Winson Sinnadorai through coordination of Major General R Rathnasinham (Retd). The donor wanted the house be built in memory of his late mother, Mrs J.C Sinnadorai.
The Commander, Security Forces - Jaffna, Major General Chandana Wijayasundara, together with General Officer Commanding, 51 Division, Major General Anil Udaya Kumara graced the house warming ceremony where keys of the new house to Mrs Sulakshana Wijayakantha, a widowed mother with two children were delivered after Hindu religious rites.
11 Sri Lanka Light Infantry troops provided much-required manpower for the construction work under the supervision of the Commander, 513 Brigade, Colonel Rizvi Razick. Lieutenant Colonel K.P.C.K Kariyawasam, Commanding Officer, 11 SLLI closely supervised the construction work of the new house.
Unveiling of a plaque and formalities at the auspicious minute enabled the beneficiary with her children take charge of the new house. At the same moment, the Commander, Security Forces - Jaffna gifted a set of essential household items and dry rations to the family as tokens of goodwill.
The house-warming ceremony was attended by Major General Anil Udaya Kumara, General Officer Commanding, 51 Division, Colonel Rizvi Razick, Commander, 513 Brigade, relatives of the beneficiary, several Officers and Other Ranks.
