Jaffna People Place Trust in Army Expertise for House Construction for Needy Families

The growing public confidence and the goodwill in the Army was once again clearly evident in the number of philanthropists and donors forthcoming to build new homes for deserving Jaffna families at the request of the Security Force Headquarters - Jaffna (SFHQ-J) when Jaffna troops again on Monday (31) vested one more Army-built new house in one Mrs Thawarasa Kaveeda and her family in Pungudattivu.

The donor, Mr Vamadeva Thiyagendran of Jaffna, impressed with the technical expertise, dedicated work and manpower of Army troops provided raw materials at his cost for this worthy cause as a social service to the community after extending his support for the ongoing house construction project of the Army in the peninsula.

17 Gemunu Watch troops of the 512 Brigade in the 51 Division HQ completed the project within a few weeks to the best satisfaction of the donor, following instructions given by Major General Lalith Ratnayake, General Officer Commanding, 51 Division in close coordination with the 512 Brigade Commander, Brigadier Eranda Ratnayake.

The simple house-warming ceremony, attended by Major General Senarath Bandara, Commander, Security Forces, Jaffna as the Chief Guest, together with the donor, Mr Vamadeva Thiyagendran, followed Hindu rites and rituals. A simple ribbon-cutting amid applause marked the entry into the new home after the keys were handed over to the beneficiary. 51 Division's GOC, 512 Brigade Commander, Officers, Army builders, relatives of the family and invitees were there during the warming ceremony.

SFHQ-J in the past few years has taken the lead in providing more than two-digit of single homes, erected by Army troops to the needy families in the peninsula. latest jordan Sneakers | New Balance 991 Footwear
