In order to foster friendship and cohesion among the Military and the Youth in Jaffna Peninsula, troops of the 55 Division organized a Football league tournament under the guidance of the Commander Security Forces - Jaffna, where 22 Football clubs in Point-Pedro, Nelliaddi, Elephant Pass, Pallei, Maraddakerai, Wadmarachchi North and Wadamarachchi East enthusiastically participated.
The championship was clinched by the Kaleimadi Football Club - Nelliadi and the runner-up was the Allai Friends Football Club Point-Pedreo during the finals, held on Wednesday (16) at Dureiappa Stadium in Jaffna.
Brigadier Sampath Kotuwegoda, General Officer Commanding (GOC) 55 Division graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and awarded the trophies to the winners.
