Jaffna Commander Makes Familiarization Visits to Divisions & FMA (North)

The new Commander, Security Forces Headquarters - Jaffna (SFHQ-J), Major General Swarna Bothota made his maiden visits to 51, 52, and 55 Infantry Divisions during 28-30 December.

He first visited the 51 Infantry Division, then the 52 Infantry Division and the 55 Infantry Division HQ as the final segment of the itinerary where he was saluted in drive pass Guard Turnouts before respective General Officers Commanding (GOC) Major General Wajira Welagedara, GOC, 51 Infantry Division at Kopay, Major General Sanjeewa Fernando, GOC, 52 Infantry Division at Mirusuvil and Major General Prasanna Gunarathne, GOC, 55 Infantry Division at Kaddaikadu welcomed the visiting Jaffna Commander.

Customary troop addresses, planting of saplings and photographs added further importance to the three-day long agenda.

During the visits, he took time off to call at Brigades, under command units and the Battalion Training School in his area of responsibility.

Brigadier General Staff, SFHQ-J, Brigadier Admin, and Quartering, SFHQ-J, Brigade Commanders, Colonel General Staff, SFHQ-J, Commanding Officers, Senior Officers and troops were present in the chain of events.

In the meanwhile, Jaffna Commander Major General Swarna Bothota paid his maiden visits to the Forward Maintenance Area (North) - FMA (N) HQ and its under-command Logistic Units on Tuesday (Jan 03) with the intention of familiarizing himself with the troops.

Brigadier Clifford De Zoysa, Commander, FMA (North) warmly welcomed the new Commander at the entrance after a drive pass salute of the 4 Sri Lanka Corps of Military Police saluted him. Later, he was invited to plant a mango sapling in the compound and pose for a group photograph before he addressed the troops.

During the day's itinerary, the Jaffna Commander visited the 4 Sri Lanka Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (4 SLEME) camp where he also planted a mango sapling and posed for a group photograph. Simultaneously, he inspected the progress of vehicle maintenance and modification process, managed in the unit.

Brigadier Admin and Quartering, SFHQ - J, Commanding Officers, Officers and troops of FMA (N) were present at the event.
