Troops of all Divisions, Brigades and formations under the Security Force Headquarters - Jaffna, as in early years, extended their fullest support this year too to the devotees of the Catholic faith in Jaffna to organize X'mas celebrations in the peninsula before and on Christmas day (25).
On the directives of the Commander, Security Forces - Jaffna, Major General Ruwan Wanigasooriya, troops of the 51 Division under the supervision of the General Officer Commanding, 51 Division, organized clean-up projects in church compounds. Accordingly, soldiers serving the 511, 512, 513 and 515 Brigades joined the devotees and church authorities to clean the churches in the general town area of Jaffna, Ottahapulam, Erlali South, Thirunalvely, Navanthurai North, Chankanai East, Pariyavil, Sillalai, Alaveddi West, Valalai and Mirusuvil before they assisted people decorating church sites making Christmas attractive with X'mas trees, cribs, so on and so forth. Meanwhile, troops made Thirunalvely junction, area in front of the 511 Brigade Headquarters, next to the Jaffna Fort, Pannai roundabout, area in front of the Jaffna post office and the Children's Park beautiful and attractive.
Likewise, 52 Division soldiers serving 521, 522 and 523 Brigades under the supervision of the General Officer Commanding, 52 Division, joined the devotees and church authorities to clean the churches in Achchuvei, Chavakachcheri and Mirusuvil areas before they helped people to decorate church premises.
Similarly, troops of the 55 Division under the supervision of the General Officer Commanding 55 Division, organized a series of events in connection with Christmas celebrations. Soldiers of the 551, 552 and 552 Brigades joined the devotees and church authorities to clean churche compounds in Point Pedro, Aiyakachchi, Kakkativu, Katkovalam, Muhamalai, Vetrilaikerny and Marathankerny before they joined civilians for Christmas decorations.
