IPSOTSL Completes its UNMOC Course No. 01

The certificate-awarding ceremony of the United Nations Military Observer Course No 01 (UNMOC) 2022 was held on 16 December at the Army’s Institute of Peacekeeping Support Operations Training Sri Lanka (IPSOTSL), headed by Brigadier Chinthaka Rajapaksha, Commandant, IPSOTSL.

The Course was conducted from 28 November to 16 December 2022 at IPSOTSL with the participation of 37 Student Officers of the Armed Forces.

The IPSOTSL course mainly focused on the prime responsibilities that a Military Observer is expected to perform and it has been designed to match with guidelines provided by the United Nations Department of Peacekeeping Operations (UNDPKO).

The lecture panel consisted of 02 foreign Officer Instructors, Lieutenant Colonel M.D Sharif Raihan from Bangladesh Army and Major Laxman Khadka of the Nepalese Army and 03 other IPSOTSL instructors, Lieutenant Colonel P.W Karunarathna, Lieutenant Colonel K.A.A.K Krunarathna and Major Amitha Wijekoon who educated student officers with their real ground experience.

The closing address was delivered by Brigadier Chinthalka Rajapaksha, Commandant, IPSOTSL as the Chief Guest for the occasion. Senior Officers and Officers participated in the ceremony.
