Boxers in the 24 Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment (VIR) claimed victory in the ‘Inter Unit Boxing Championship – 2018’, organized for the 8th consecutive time by the VIR at indoor stadium at Boyagane.
Major General Ajith Kariyakarawna, Deputy Chief of Staff and Colonel of the Regiment, VIR as the Chief Guest witnessed the final tussle and joined the awarding ceremony. Several Senior Officers and Officers were present during the finals.
52 competitors representing all VIR units got underway during 23 – 26 October. 24 VIR boxers carried away the Overall Championship, knocking 51 boxers. They won 6 Gold, 1 Silver and 1 Bronze medals. The 1st Runner-up, 20 VIR boxers won 1 Gold, 1 Silver and 5 Bronze medals.
