An Indian delegation headed by Major General Sunil Srivastava, Senior Directing Staff (Army) at Indian National Defence College, together with 16 other senior Tri-Forces officers who are following the National Security and Strategic Studies Course at National Defence College in India with their spouses arrived at the Security Force Headquarters-Jaffna (SFHQ-J) on Wednesday 24.
The visiting delegation was warmly received at the Palaly Airport by Brigadier AQ SFHQ-J Brigadier Ruwan Gunathilake, together with the Commander 553 Brigade, Brigadier Dammika Jayasundara, Commander 551 Brigade, Colonel Wasantha Herath and Commanding Officer Air Force Base Station Palaly and Group Captain Deshappriya Siva.
During the visit the Commander SF-J Major General Mahesh Senanayaka briefed them about the present security situation in the Jaffna peninsula and discussed military relations and the opportunities and challenges, associated with the post-confilct environment. During the interaction session, the Commander SF-J explained the military endeavours on reconciliation process and harmony.
At the culmination of the visit, the members exchanged mementos to mark their memorable visit to the SFHQ-J. Major General Sunil Srivastava placed his signature in the visitor’s book prior to their departure from the venue.
