HAHN Project's 'Thrupthimath Hamuda Jeevithayak' Copy Presented to Commander

Colonel (Dr) R.M.M Monaragala, Consultant Psychiatrist at Colombo Army Hospital and Deputy Director in Directorate of Preventive and Mental Health Services of the Army met Lieutenant General Mahesh Senanayake, Commander of the Army at the Army Headquarters and presented the first copy of the book, 'Thrupthimath Hamuda Jeevithayak' (A Contended Army Life), authored by him for the benefit of Army personnel.

The book in Sinhala, comprised of illustrations and pictorial accounts touches on all aspects of reaching a contended life and covers topics such as 'bachelor and married life', 'health habits', 'food habits', 'family ties', 'social life', 'fellowship at work', 'integrity and honesty', 'command and service obligations', 'sexual aspects and mutual understanding', etc.

The product saw its birth as part of the ongoing ‘Healthy Army - Healthy Nation’ (HAHN) programme of the Colombo Army Hospital, headed by Brigadier (Dr) Mrs A.S.M Wijewardene. HAHN project, spearheaded by the Deputy Chief of Staff, Major General Dampath Fernando in his capacity as the Chairman, Steering Committee of the HAHN programme, has by now covered all island-wide Army formations and launched their awareness programmes on preventive Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs).

Lieutenant General Mahesh Senanayake, Commander of the Army accepting the maiden copy of the book appreciated the good work and requested Colonel (Dr) Monaragala to explore possibilities of printing a large bulk of copies for distribution among All Ranks in the Army.

Major General Dampath Fernando, Deputy Chief of Staff, Brigadier (Dr) Mrs A.S.M Wijewardene and Colonel Udaya Kumara, Military Assistant were also associated with the occasion on Wednesday (24).
