GW Troops Repeat Their Support for Start of Sri Pada Season

Committed troops of the Gemunu Watch (GW) at Kuruwita GW Regimental Centre contributed to the commencement of the ‘Sri Pada’ pilgrims’ season by assisting to carry the relic casket, statue of God ‘Sumana Saman’ and all other sacred ornaments from Pelmadulla, Galpottawala Raja Maha Viharaya and marched up to Palabaddala Purana Viharaya and then to the Maha Maluwa atop the Sri Pada summit during 7-8 December.

Ceremonially-dressed GW troops at the auspicious minute accepted the sacred objects on ‘Unduwap Full Moon Poya Day’ and joined the long march to the Sri Pada GW troops have been assisting this project for the last few years at the invitation of the incumbent of the Sri Pada temples and the District Secretariat.

Senior Officers, Officers, and many Other Ranks participated in the inauguration of the ceremony at Ratnapura and joined religious rites and rituals.
