Grade 5 Scholarship Winner in Jaffna Rewarded

A MALE student from Wadukkodai Jaffna College who emerged as the first in the all-island Grade 5 scholarship examination 2009 (Tamil medium) was gifted deposited cash by the Security Forces Headquarters Jaffna (SFHQ-J), in recognition of his achievement, despite violent acts occurred due to LTTE attrocities in the peninsula at that period of time.
Logeshwaran Sri Harshan of Wadukkodai Jaffna College, equally clever at extra-curricular activities, according to the teachers and the principal, has received the second place in the island wide examination at national level.

Harshan’s parents Mr. and Mrs. Logeshwaran, both government school teachers, happy with their son’s achievement were proud to tell that their son did not attend any extra classes either but studied enthusiastically during school hours.

Commander SFHQ-J Major General L.B.R. Mark during a function organized at the SFHQ handed over gift parcels including school uniform cloths, books and other necessary school items to Harshan in the presence of his parents, teachers and Army officers. Jaffna Commander also took steps to deposit a sum of Rs. 5000/- in a saving account opened in his name at the Bank of Ceylon.
