The financial assistance, provided by the Basnayake Nilame, Mr Dishan Gunasekara at Kataragama Devalaya and Dr Dinushan Wanniarachchi enabled the troops of the 23 Gajaba Regiment under command to the 122 Brigade of the 12 Division of the Security Force HQ-Central to build one more new home to a deserving family in Gothamaigama, Kataragama.
After economic hardships and the living condition of Mr G.K.M Gayan Pushapa Kumara and his family were brought to the notice of the 122 Brigade Commander, Brigadier Janaka Pallekumbura, steps were taken to seek the assistance of those sponsors for construction of a new house by 3 Sri Lanka National Guard troops of the 122 Brigade. Accordingly those two philanthropists pledged their financial support for construction of this house.
On Friday (3) one of the donors, Dr Dinushan Wanniarachchi, Brigadier Janaka Pallekumbura, Commander, 122 Brigade and Commanding Officer, 3 SLNG formally warmed the house by handing over keys of the new house to the beneficiary during a simple inaugural ceremony at Gothamigama.
Major General Prasanna Ranawaka, General Officer Commanding, 12 Division and Brigadier Janaka Pallekumbura, Commander, 122 Brigade who coordinated the project gave their blessings to the community project as it would help bolster the goodwill between the Security Forces and the civilians.
The inaugural occasion was blessed by members of the Maha Sangha. Health guidelines were followed during the inaugural ceremony.
