GOC Engineer Division Visits His Former Unit

Major General Lanka Amarapala, General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the Engineer Division made his first formal visit to the 6 Field Engineer Regiment camp at Pallekele on Wednesday (08) which he commanded some 13 years ago as the Commanding Officer. The visiting General Officer Commanding was received on arrival by the Commanding Officer of the 6 Field Engineer Regiment, Lieutenant Colonel C.R Lahadasinghe.

The day's visitor viewed the Guard Turnout at the entrance and planted a mango sapling in the camp premises afterwards. As one more segment of the day's agenda, he unveiled a plaque and inaugurated the new office premises of the Commanding Officer after cutting a ribbon.

After a while, the Commanding Officer in a formal presentation briefed the visiting GOC on the progress of nation-building projects, infrastructure development, camp security, training modules, welfare of the soldiers, and combat readiness. Thereafter, Major General Lanka Amarapala addressed all ranks and recalled past memories in the Regiment and appealed them to serve with commitment.

The formal visit culminated with a field visit inside the camp. Colonel General Staff, Colonel Pradeep Siriwardena, and Colonel Project, Plant Engineer Brigade, Lieutenant Colonel Saliya Jayasinghe also participated in the event.
