General Amnesty for Army Absentees Extended up to April 25

The general amnesty period, offered to Army absentees, enabling them to receive their legal discharge from the Army has now been extended by ten more days until April 25, 2015 after its previous deadline expires on Thursday (16).

The positive response, hitherto received from the absentees crossed the total figure 13,600 who reached respective Regimental Centres in search of discharge after the general amnesty period came into effect on April 1, 2015. Of them, a total of 10,271 absentees have received their legal discharge by Thursday (16) noon while remaining 3,329 numbers are still in progress under a new speedy scheme.

The general amnesty on the directions of the President and the Ministry of Defence was declared on April 1, 2015 and respective Regimental Centres under the supervision of the Commander of the Army Lieutenant General Crishanthe De Silva began receiving those absentees.

Sri Lanka Army appeals those absentees to make use of the special amnesty scheme, now in progress until April 25 and receives their legal discharge as early as possible.
