The Gemunu Watch (GW) Regimental Centre at Kuruwita hosted a felicitation for GW's newly-promoted Major General Senaka Kasturimudali and Major General Roshan Jayamanna on Saturday (12).
The event was organized on the guidelines given by Major General Chandima Lamahewa, Colonel of the Regiment, GW and Director General Infantry in conformity with military traditions with the objective of congratulating them.
The newly- promoted two star Generals were warmly welcomed by the Centre Commandant, Brigadier Janaka Wimalaratne on behalf of the Colonel of the Regiment and All Ranks of the Gemunu Watch. Then they were greeted in a Guard Turnout and a Guard of Honour according to military formalities. Featuring the traditional event, they offered floral tributes to the memory of fallen GW war heroes.
Later on, an All Rank tea to mark the reception was joined by both new Major Generals. An All Rank lunch arranged at the Officers’ Mess and presentation of mementoes by Major General Chandima Lamahewa in appreciation of their dedicated and committed services, brought the day's arrangements to an end.
Members of the Regimental Council, Senior Officers, Staff Officers, Commanding Officers and Other Ranks were also present at the ceremony.
