Garment Industry Training Centre Goes to Mullaittivu with SFHQ-MLT Initiatives

A new training centre for potential 35 ladies and youths expecting to join the garment industry in future came into operation on Thursday (18) after the Security Force Headquarters - Mullaittivu (SFHQ-MLT) took initiatives to establish a new garment factory in collaboration with the District Secretary for Mullaittivu and garment industrialists.

Global Design Tex (Pvt) Ltd intending to provide garment industry job opportunities for some 35 young men and women in Mullaittivu area under the Phase - I began this new training initiative after recruiting some 35 potential aspirants in the garment industry.

As the second leg of the project, Global Design Tex (Pvt) Ltd expects to establish the 300 employee rich garment factory in the same Mullaittivu area for the benefit of unemployed young ladies and youths as a gesture of reconciliation and goodwill.

With the close coordination of the District Secretary for Mullaittivu, the New Training Centre and the SFHQ-MLT, the new training session for 35 recruits commenced on Thursday (18) during a simple ceremony at the Training Centre, attended by Major General Dampath Fernando, Commander, Security Forces - MLT, Ms Rupawathi Kethishwari, District Secretary for Mullaittivu, Mr Gunabalan, Divisional Secretary for Maritime Pattu, Mrs Maheshika Kularatne, Co-Director Global Design Tex (Pvt) Ltd, Mr Sampath Madarasinghe, Chief Executive Officer, Global Design Tex (Pvt) Ltd and several others.

During the training period, each trainee is to be paid Rs 14,000/= per month, in addition to meals and transport provided free of charge.
