Floral Wreeths Placed in Ratnapura & Anuradhapura War Heroes’ Monuments

Two War Heroes’ Commemoration ceremonies were recently held in Ratnapura and Anuradhapura to coincide with the ongoing Ranaviru commemorative month.

Troops of the Sri Lanka Army, Sri Lanka Navy, Sri Lanka Air Force, Sri Lanka Police, Civil Security Department, government officials and politicians in the Sabaragamuwa Province participated in the ceremony at Ratnapura.

The Governor, Mr Marshal Perera attended as the Chief Guest and paid floral tributes to the Fallen War Heroes’ monument.

All distinguished guests and next of kin of the fallen war heroes followed suit and paid floral tributes to their loved ones as the ceremony got underway.

Mrs Upulanganie Malangamuwa, Vice Chairperson Ranaviru Seva Authority, made a speech and underlined the importance of the sacrifices of War Heroes.

Another commemoration ceremony was held on Wednesday (11) in Anuradhapura to coincide with the National War Heroes’ month.

The Governor for North Central Province, Mr P.B Dissanayake graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and paid floral tributes to fallen War Heroes, together with other distinguished guests.

Tri-service personnel and Civil Security Department members also participated in the occasion.

In addition to Religious observances, floral tributes, a Guard of Honour was accorded to the memory of War Heroes by members of the tri forces, Police and Civil Security Department, present at the venue.

This annual event was organized by the Secretariat of the Sabaragamuwa and North Central Provincial Councils in close cooperation with the Ranaviru Seva Authority.
