Finals in Inter Regiment Body Building, Weight Lifting, Power Lifting Championship 2018 Held

A total of 19 Regimental teams took part in the Inter Regiment Body Building Championship - 2018, held recently at the Army Indoor Stadium - Panagoda, graced by Major General Rukmal Dias, Commandant Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force as the Chief Guest.

Body -builders in the Sri Lanka Army General Service Crops with 20 marks won the Championship-2018 while Gemunu Watch team received the 2nd place.

Sri Lanka Armoured Corps & Sri Lanka Ordinance Corps teams shared the 3rd place collecting equal points.

The best body builder award went to Private H.A.S Sampath of the Sri Lanka Armoured Corps team. Major General W.R Palihakkara, Chairman Sri Lanka Army Body Building Committee welcomed the Chief Guest on arrival at the venue.

Meanwhile, winners in the recently-held weight-lifting and power-lifting championship also received awards at the same occasion. Sri Lanka National Guard with 19 marks won the 1st place, followed by Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment and Sri Lanka Army General Service Corps, grabbing the 2nd and 3rd places respectively.

Corporal S.K.S Pradeep of the Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment was graded as the Best Power lifter. Similarly, Sri Lanka Artillery Regiment was crowned as champions with 21 marks. Sri Lanka National guards won the 2nd place and the 3rd place went to the Sri Lanka Army General Service Corps respectively.

Lance corporal Y.D.I Kumara of the SLAGSC was adjudged the Best Weight lifter (male) and Lance Corporal D.D.D Abeysekara of SLAGSC was named the Best Woman Weight lifter in the tournament.
