Fellow-Soldiers Rebuild Woman Soldier's Gutted Home

Troops of the 241 Infantry Brigade of the 24 Infantry Division showing their solidarity and comradeship towards a woman soldier working with them took the lead in renovating and furnishing her fire-gutted house in Akkaraipattu.

On request, Muslim and Tamil traders in Akkaraipattu supported the project by way of provision of raw materials and necessary resources.

The house of the woman soldier, Private T. Dirona of 3 Sri Lanka Army Women’s Corps serving the 24 Infantry Division caught fire causing extensive damages.

The initiative in this regard was launched by Colonel L.S.D.N Pathirana RSP USP, Commander, 241 Infantry Brigade. The collective efforts of the 11 Battalion of the Sri Lanka National Guard and resources, contributed to the project by donors to the value of Rs 842,754.00 enabled the reconstruction of this affected house of the woman soldier.

Major General W Chandrasiri RSP USP psc, the General Officer Commanding of 24 Infantry Division as the Chief Guest on Sunday (20) delivered the keys of the reconstructed and refurbished house of the woman soldier to the beneficiary and her grandmother.

At the same time, a stock of household items and essentials were also gifted to the family by the Chief Guest.
