Family with Sick Mother Moves into Army-Built New Home in Habarana

The Security Force Headquarters-East (SF-East) with sponsorship received from a philanthropist joined hands together to erect a new house to Mr K Sunil who is undergoing a lot of hardships with his wife suffering from a terminal disease in the general area of Eerigeoya in Habarana.

The project saw its fruition on Saturday (Dec 17) during a simple ceremony. It was made possible with the sponsorship, granted by Australia-based Mr Dhanushka, a businessman through the coordination of SF-East troops. The project was initiated under the guidance of Major General Sujeewa Hettiarachchi, Commander, SF-East and on the directions of Brigadier Iran Lokuketagoda, Commander, Forward Maintenance Area-East (FMA-East).

3 Corps of Engineer Services, 5 Sri Lanka Army Medical Corps, 3 Sri Lanka Army Ordnance Corps and 3 Sri Lanka Electrical and Mechanical Engineers provided technical and labour assistance to make the project a success. The Commanding officers of aforesaid units closely supervised and guided their troops for the successful conclusion of the new shelter for the family.

The beneficiaries received the keys symbolically from the Commander, FMA-East who graced the occasion as the chief guest at the auspicious warming ceremony. Commanding Officers, Officers, and Other Ranks were present at the ceremony.
