Fallen IPKF War Heroes Remembered at Solemn Ceremony

Fallen Jawans (War Heroes) of the Indian Peace Keeping Force (IPKF) during 'Operation Pawan' and other operations against LTTE terrorists in Sri Lanka during the period from 1987 to 1990 were brought to memory and their sacrifices remembered at the Indian Peace Keeping Force (IPKF) Monument in Palaly this morning (15) in a solemn ceremony.

The commemoration coincided with the 75th Independence Day of India. The event, organized by the Consulate General office of India to Sri Lanka in Jaffna was attended by the Consul General of India to Sri Lanka in Jaffna, Mr Shri Raakesh Natraj and the Commander Security Forces - Jaffna, Major General Chandanda Wijayasundara as distinguished guests.

Placing floral wreaths at the IPKF Monument during the brief and solemn ceremony, both Mr Shri Raakesh Natraj and Major General Chandanda Wijayasundara paid tribute to the memory of those fallen IPKF War Heroes.

Several Senior Army Officers, Officials in the Consulate General office and troops were associated with the day's remembrance.
