Fallen Indian Peace Keeping Forces Remembered in Jaffna during Wreath-Laying

In parallel with the Indian Republic Day (Jan 26), a wreath-laying ceremony to recall the memories of Indian Jawans (Indian Peace Keeping Force (IPKF) who laid their lives in Sri Lanka took place at the IPKF monument in Palaly on Friday (26).

Jaffna-based Consul General of India, Mr. Shri A. Natarajan and Major General Darshana Hettiarachchi, Commander, Security Forces –Jaffna (SF-J), placed wreaths at the monument and saluted the memories of fallen IPKF War Heroes during the ‘Operation Pawan’ and fighting against LTTE terrorists.

10 Para Commandos and a section of 13 Sikh Light Infantry troops suffered heavily during the encounters with the LTTE in Jaffna.
