Ex-Mithra Shakthi in India Inaugurated

The inagural ceremony of the Excercise Mithra Shakthi- 2017 took place at the parade square of 2 MARATHA Infantry battalion in Punne, India on Friday (13).

Both Indian and Sri Lankan Army Contingents marched in to the parade square, together with two colour squads who carried national flags of both the countries.

The Parade was commanded by Major Jagath Pallekumbura, Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment, the Officer Commanding of the Sri Lankan Army contingent.

Brigadier Alok Chandra, Brigade Commander, 330 Infantry Brigade of the Indian Army at Aundh cantonment was the Chief Guest to the occasion.He was accompanied by the Exercise Director, Sri Lankan Army contingent, Brigadier Ajith Pallawela.

After receiving the salute from the parade commander, the chief guest and the Exercise Director reviewed the parade.

A fly past of two Indian Army aviation helicopters carrying national flags of India and Sri Lanka took place afterwards as a demonstrative gesture.

Afterwards, Exercise Director addressed the parade and the chief guest declared the exercise open.

A spectacular cultural display took place after the parade marched out. Soldiers of Gurkha Rifle Regiment displayed their famous Khukri dance while performing the 'Ves Kandyan' dancing by the troops of Sri Lankan Army contingent at the occasion.

After the opening ceremony, display of infantry weapons and equipment used by the Indian Army was exhibited in the same venue.

The Day’s ceremonial arrangements ended with refreshments for All Ranks.
