Engineer Division Turns Two Years Old

The Sri Lanka Army Engineer Division proudly marked its 2nd anniversary on Friday (18) organizing a series of programmes with the participation of Major General Lanka Amarapala, General Officer Commanding of the Sri Lanka Army Engineer Division.

An all-night 'Pirith' chanting, the offer of alms and religious observances took the pride of place at the 'Home of Sappers’ in Mattegoda on 16-17 November 2022. A colourful procession, rich with traditional dancers and drummers, together with the sacred relic casket (Karanduwa) along with the book of old scriptures, (Pirivana Potha) conducted the members of the Maha Sangha to the octagon (Pirith Mandapaya) before they began chanting in order to invoke blessings to the Engineer Division, all wounded war heroes, serving ones and transfer merits to fallen ones.

On the anniversary day (18), a Guard Turn Out and a Guard of Honour saluted the GOC at Mattegoda parade ground. Afterwards, the GOC addressed the Engineer Division troops before an All Rank lunch got underway at Sappers’ Mess.

The General Officer Commanding, Sri Lanka Army Engineer Division, Brigade Commanders, Commanding Officers, Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks of the Engineer Division took part in the series of anniversary events.
