East Commander Warmly Welcomed at Eastern Naval Command

The Eastern Naval Command extended a warm welcome to Major General Sujeewa Hettiarachchi, Commander, Security Forces - East on Friday (Feb 10) when the latter made his first formal visit to the Eastern Naval Command after assuming duties as the Commander of Security Forces - East.

Rear Admiral Dammika Kumara, Commander, Eastern Naval Area received the East Commander after he was honoured in a drive-pass Guard Turnout at the entrance of the Eastern Naval Command Headquarters, Trincomalee.

During the ensued meeting, the Eastern Navel Area Commander and Commander, Security Forces - East) exchanged views on several matters of mutual importance. Discussions also focused on security in the eastern territory and related other issues. This was also the first official interaction between the newly-appointed both Navy and Army Commanders for the Eastern area.

Afterwards, Major General Sujeewa Hettiarachchi visited the SLNS Sagara Offshore Patrol Vessel and Sri Lanka Naval and Maritime Academy, Trincomalee. The cordial meeting culminated with an exchange of mementoes, symbolizing prevailing cooperation and goodwill.
