The motorcade carrying the ‘Sacred Pinnacle’ and the ‘Crest-Gem’ of the 'Sandahiru' Stupa toured the Eastern Province coviring 10 temples during 16 - 21 October for public veneration.
Accordingly, the religious procession reached Deegawapi Raja Maha Viharaya, Mahawapi Viharaya, Bollegama Raja Maha Viharaya, Dimbulagala Monastery, Somawathiya Raja Maha Viharaya, Buddhist Centre Medirigiriya, Velunna Raja MahaViharaya, Seruwawila Raja Maha Viharaya, Sri Jayasumanarama Maha Viharaya Trincomalee and finally, to the Welgamvehera Raja Maha Viharaya spending over 08 days around the Security Force (East) area.
Major General Channa Weerasooriya, Commander, Security Forces - East paid his homage when it reached Somawathiya temple. Strict health guidelines were follwed during the exposition.
GOCs of 22, 23 and 24 Divisions, officers and other ranks of under command formations joined the occasion.
