East Commander Makes Formal Visits to Brigades & Battalions

Major General Channa Weerasuriya, Commander, Security Forces - East (SF-E) visited the 231 and 232 Brigades under command to the 23 Division on Tuesday (29).

At first, he arrived at the 232 Brigade Headquarters in Thoppigala where the visiting Commander was accorded a drive past Guard Turnout salute at the main entrance.

During the visit, the Commander had an opportunity to discuss matters pertaining to administration aspects, operational needs, welfare measures and requirements of the troops.

Addressing the troops of 232 Brigade and 12 Sri Lanka National Guard troops, the Commander SF-E encouraged the troops to continue to offer their service while maintaining the highest standards of discipline at all levels. Further, the Commander SF-E educated the troops highlighting important aspects of administration aspects, operational matters, welfare measures and uplifting the living standards of the Officers and Other Ranks. Moreover, the Commander urged them to stick to the health guidelines in the present pandemic situation in the country and advised them to be cautious when travelling due to the rapid increase of vehicle accidents reported at present.

The Commander SF-E afterwards, visited the Headquarters 231 Brigade, Batticaloa and attended the formalities after being received by Brigade Commander, Brigadier Vijitha Hettiarachchi. During the troops address, the Commander SF-E enlightened the troops of the 231 Brigade, 4 Gemunu Watch and 11 (V) Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment Battalions on aforesaid aspects.

Major General Nalin Koswatte, General Officer Commanding, 23 Division and Commanding Officers also accompanied the Commander, SF-E during the visits.
