Major General M.K.U.P Gunaratne RSP ndu psc IG the newly-appointed East Commander made his maiden visit to the 23 Infantry Division at Punani on Wednesday (Aug 16).
Brigadier K.V.N.P Premaratne RSP USP psc, General Officer Commanding (GOC) of 23 Infantry Division warmly welcomed the new Commander, Security Forces - East, after he was saluted in a colourful Guard Turnout at the entrance, presented by 9 Sri Lanka Artillery troops.
Adding memories to the day, he planted a mango sapling in the compound before he posed for a group photograph with the Divisional staff. Further, he addressed the 23 Infantry Division troops and interacted with the troops during an All-Rank tea.
After a while, he received a briefing on the role and tasks of the Division and its responsibilities, presented by the GOC of 23 Infantry Division. Prior to his departure, the Commander left a couple of thoughts and compliments in the visitors’ book.
Meanwhile, the East Commander also visited the COVID 19 burial site at Oddamavadi and Punani Campus premises during the visit. The GOC of 23 Infantry Division, Commander of 231 Infantry Brigade, Divisional Staff Officers, Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks also participated in the series of events.
