Major General Lal Chandrasiri, Commander, Security Forces-East representing the Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army, General Shavendra Silva attended the inaugural warming of the new three-storied school building at Abhayapura Maha Vidyalaya premises in Polonnaruwa on Thursday (20).
The construction, sponsored by Ven Dr Pannila Sri Ananda Nayake Thero, the Chief Incumbent at Attanagalle Sri Arahaththa Purana Rajamaha Viharaya was completed through the coordination of the Chief Incumbent of Somawathiya Rajamaha Viharaya, Ven Pahamune Sri Sumangala Anu Nayaka Thero.
At the auspicious minute, the sponsor, Ven Pannila Sri Ananda Nayake Thero, together with several other religious dignitaries and the East Commander warmed the new three-storied building after unveiling of a plaque and the symbolic ribbon-cutting.
General Officer Commanding, 23 Division, Commander 233 Brigade, Civil Coordinating Officers of the SFHQ-E, Senior Officers, Officers, Principal, teachers, students and a large gathering of civilians were present during the opening ceremony.
