Dte of Veteran Affairs & SLAGSC Build New House for an Injured War Hero

A simple ceremony to formally warm a new house built for a differently-able Non-Commissioned Officer in the Sri Lanka Army General Service Corps (SLAGSC) was held in Sevanagama, Bandarawela on Friday (29).

Directorate (Dte) of Veteran Affairs as per guidelines given by the Commander of the Army has spent Rs 1.2 million for its construction while the SLAGSC Regimental Centre, now committed to construction of more and more houses for deserving soldiers, allocated Rs 3 lakhs for the deserving project since the beneficiary has made an exceptional contribution to the victory over terrorism before May 2009 before sustaining serious injuries.

The technically-skilled manpower for the project, valued at Rs 1.5 million was provided by 1 SLAGSC troops for their warrior comrade and the entire construction was done on the directions of Major General C.K Handunmulla, Colonel Commandant of the SLAGSC, closely supervised by the SLAGSC RHQ Centre Commandant.

Lieutenant Colonel C.S Demuni, Commanding Officer, 1 SLAGSC on behalf of the RHQ, graced the house-warming ceremony as the chief guest, together with a few officers.
