Demonstrating the Army's untiring commitment to serving the nation in times of crises, Sri Lanka Army troops on the instructions of the Commander of the Army, embarked on a mission to provide these displaced individuals with essential supplies, most notably cooked food varieties.
The Basnayake Nilame of the Ruhunu Kataragama Devalaya supported the endeavours of the 12 Infantry Division troops providing dry rations needed for preparation of cooked meals considering the need of those essentials. Troops put up a temporary cook house in the Malimbada GN Division and prepared meals during 8-11 October 2023, approximately for 5,000 people who had found themselves displaced.
The General Officer Commanding, 12 Infantry Division gave necessary instructions and troops with their Commanding Officers facilitated the preparation and distribution of those meals. The joint efforts have been instrumental in successfully addressing the immediate needs of those affected by the disaster in the Malimbada area.
