Discussions & Awareness on Green Agriculture Continue

The 64 Division HQ of the Security Force HQ- Mulaittivu organized an awareness programme, related to Green Agriculture process on 23 March at its Headquarter premises in order to enhance the knowledge of farmers on the use of organic fertilizer.

56 farmers from Oddusudan area participated in the project and the awareness session was conducted by Agricultural advisers in Oddusudan area. After the awareness programme, all participants made a field visit to witness the 64 Division's Model farm, being cultivated using organic fertilizer.

Major General Upul Weerakoon, General officer Commanding 64 Division closely supervised the event. Senior officers, Officers and Other ranks participated in the event.

In the meantime, one more awareness programme on the use of organic fertilizer for Yala season 2022 took place at Galagedara, Batugoda, Aludeniya and Hathara Liyadda Agrarian Service Offices in collaboration with the 11 Division HQ.

The project was supported by Bio Natural Foods and Bio Fertilizer (Private) Limited on Monday (28).

During this discussion, correct use of organic fertilizers, liquid fertilizers and relevant activities were taken up for review with farming representatives.

These sessions were organized on the directions of Major General Kalpa Sanjeewa, General Officer Commanding, 12 Division HQ.

Meanwhile, a special workshop plus a lecture on organic fertilizer production and distribution was held at the Kokkuthuduwai Govi Jana Seva Centre on 24 March 2022 with the participation of the farmers in the area.

The programme was conducted by the Field Officer of the Kangara Holdings (Pvt) Limited, Mr Mohan Raj and Mr Thulasiraman, Agrarian Instructor at Kokkuthuduwai Agriculture Centre.

It was organized under the direction of the Commander, Security Forces - Mullaittivu and the General Officer Commanding, 59 Division, Brigadier Wishwajith Vidyananda, 593 Brigade Commander and Commanding Officer, 19 Gemunu Watch.

Meanwhile, District Secretaries of Matale and Kandy, Agrarian officials, officials of Agriculture Department, Irrigation Department, fertilizer producers, farmers and Army Officers were among those who attended a meeting on organic fertilizer production and distribution at Uduwela Cultural Hall on Friday (1).

It was organized by the Project Management Office at Minipe and the 11 Division HQ.
