Directorate of Real Estate and Quartering Inaugurates Its Newest Holiday Bungalow at Hawa Eliya

The Directorate of Real Estate and Quartering (Dte of RE & Q) welcomed its newest addition, a three-story holiday bungalow located in Hawa Eliya on Saturday (20 Apr) amidst a brief ceremony. Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage RWP RSP ndu, the Commander of the Army graced the occasion as the chief guest.

The day’s chief guest was warmly welcomed by Major General S.P.A.I.M.B Samarakoon Hdmc Lsc, Deputy Chief of Staff together with Major General G.M.N Perera RWP RSP USP ndc, Quarter Master General and Major General M.P.K Madurapperuma RSP USP psc, Director General, Dte of RE & Q.

Moments later, the Commander of the Army, unveiled the plaque and inaugurated the new bungalow complex amidst chanting of ‘Seth Pirith’ by the Members of Maha Sangha.

Afterwards, the Army Chief was accompanied to the second floor of the building and the gathering lit a traditional oil lamp. Later on, the gathering inspected the new facility.

Each floor of the three-story building consists of three rooms with attached bathrooms, a lobby area, a dining area and a kitchen. 17 Engineer Services Regiment (17 ESR) troops carried out the construction process under the supervision of Directorate of Engineer Services.

At the same time, the Commander of the Army launched the newly-designed widget for booking of Army holiday bungalows for service personnel in the Army. It was designed by the Directorate of Information Technology. Named 'My Reservations' and accessible via the 'e-Portal' app, this tool allows service personnel to check availability and make instant online bookings.

Moreover, the Army Chief awarded appreciation certificates to the ESR troops, who engaged in the construction of the new facility. 02 Officers and 18 Other Ranks symbolically received appreciation certificates out of 05 Officers and 56 Other Ranks. Furthermore, to commemorate the occasion, a sapling was planted by the Commander of the Army on the premises.

Major General S.R.B Aluvihare RWP RSP ndu psc, the Commander, Security Forces – Central, Major General M.W.T.C Mettananda USP ndc, the Commander, Army Logistic Command, Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks also took part in the brief ceremony.
